Murals of the North Tenerife

One thing that stands out to people visiting the towns in northern Tenerife is the large number of fascinating murals. You can find them in many places, but probably the most are in Puerto de la Cruz and Los Realejos. In Puerto de la Cruz, the annual street art festival Mueca takes place every May, and after each festival, a large mural remains in the city. Los Realejos, on the other hand, is a town proud of having the largest number of local fiestas and festivals in all of Spain (over 80 per year), and there are also thriving art schools in the area. Personally, I’m a big enthusiast of this form of art—it blends perfectly with the fabric of the cities. Additionally, I love the large scale of these works and the way the images interact with the shape and texture of the walls and buildings. I hope that one day Banksy will come to Los Realejos and leave a piece behind. But maybe he’s already been here, and I just haven’t come across it yet? Either way, I’ll keep looking 🙂
